Born and raised in central California, Larry Canarelli developed an appreciation for large homes that families could afford. After graduating from UCLA, Larry went on to receive his MBA from the University of Southern California. During this time, he married his wife Heidi, and began his family as well as a career in home building.
Larry started working in Las Vegas in 1976, and fulfilled his childhood dream of building homes for families with the inception of American West Homes in 1984. Through his leadership, American West has consistently led the Southern Nevada marketplace with traditional, yet innovative housing, the best price per square foot, and a top-of-the-market sales pace.
Over the past 33 years he has been involved with the planning, development, and marketing of more than 18,000 homes.
In addition to his tremendous success in building, Canarelli is a community leader and dedicated father. Larry and Heidi have raised four children in Southern Nevada. Larry has coached numerous baseball and soccer teams through the years and continues to be the Number One fan and coach for his children and grandchildren. Larry and Heidi’s dedication to the positive growth of the children of Southern Nevada was recognized when the Clark County School District built and named a middle school in their honor, the Canarelli Middle School.
Beyond his involvement with children, Canarelli has contributed greatly to the Las Vegas community. He is a Building Block member for the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, on the board for the UNLV foundation, as well as a generous contributor to many charities including Community Lutheran Church and Ronald McDonald House.
Larry continues to be recognized as a leader, coach and successful businessman who is valued and respected throughout Southern Nevada.
